Highlights
⭐️Tsujunkyo Bridge and Gorogataki Fall
Tsujunkyo Bridge is a symbol of Yamato town and was designated National Treasure of Japan in 2023. This bridge was not built only for people walking but also for water traveling from one area to another. In the past, people have suffered poverty and conflict over water, but thanks to this bridge, the region has been enriched and people’s lives have become better. We will walk backside of the bridge to Gorogataki waterfall. It is the biggest waterfall in Yamato town and how the water goes down is dynamic. It attracted one lord of Kumamoto in the 18th century when he visited there for hunting. He ordered his private painter to draw the fall.

⭐️ Hamamachi street
Hamamachi street is an old shopping street. The street is located alongside of Hyuga-kaido which leads to Miyazaki Prefecture. People would go back and forth between Kumamoto and Miyazaki and the area alongside of the road flourished back then. Hamamachi street has changed nowadays but you can still get a glimpse of old times at a sake brewery, shrines and some festival floats decorated along the street.
